PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK) -Phoenix Comicon hosted the first of two weddings on its opening day Thursday.
A large crowd gathered in one of the ballrooms at the convention center, all dressed as characters from the legendary BBC sci-fi show "Doctor Who" to congratulate the happy couple.
"A wedding should be about what's important to the people getting married," E. Adam Thomas, the groom said.
He dressed as the fourth incarnation of the Doctor.
"For me, the show is about hope and adventure," he added.
Many dressed in blue, the color of the TARDIS (Time and Relative Dimension in Space), which was the old blue London police callbox used as a time machine in the series.
The vows were inspired by lines from the show.
"The polarity of the neutron flow is no longer reversed, and we're able to come together," said the groom.
"I may not take you where you want to go but I'll take you where you need to be," said the bride, Gail Thomas.
A ''Zombie Apocalypse" wedding will be held Sunday at Comicon.
